RIIIVER Watch gimmicks and function
Beautiful watch in appearance and style. I'm still not sure about all the gimmickry of the on line connection. At least one thing I really like is being able to connect on line to set the watch to local time off of your smart device. The 'iiideas' apps are a little unclear the benefit.
Disappointed
The connection is horrible and the watch continuously disconnect from the Bluetooth. It’s a great concept but needs a lot of work. Very disappointed in this watch.
The Good and the Bad, IMHO.
- The Good. (Actually awesome): Beautiful design. That’s an understatement. The watch is “clean” and very modern. Materials feel solid and made of good quality. Some people have complained about the color of the band fading. I have not had that experience. - The bad. The iiideas are pretty much useless. The watch does not stay connected to the phone. If you don’t sync it (which you have to do manually... yes, manually), you end up loosing your info. I ordered it once and returned it because I just found its “smart” capabilities very dumb and limited. I’m giving it another shot. I reordered it... not sure I will keep it. Bottom line... it’s a watch. It’s an eye-catching piece. No doubt. The rest... meh.
It tells time. Don't expect more.
I purchased this watch mostly because of how it looks, and was intrigued by its supposed additional functionality. Not only is it difficult to connect the watch to the app, I have to add a new watch every time I want to pair it after it disconnects, but the "iiideas" are pointless, useless, and don't work. For example, the iiidea starter pack includes things like today's rain forecast, I'm here (email your firends your location), moon phase and temperature compared to 10 years ago, among other equally useless functions. How often am I going to need to email people my location that I'd need a button on my watch for it. Why do I care about the temp difference from 10 years ago? Maybe rain chance, but wouldn't the current temp be more useful? Your watch does not stay connected to the app. This is intentional. Not functional, but intentional. According to the trouble shooting guide (tapping the full or even abbreviated instructiuon manaul buttons in the app does literally nothing), you are supposed to press both buttons to pair it whenever you need to. If that actually worked, maybe it wouldn't be a hassle, but it never does. In order to get it to pair, I have to go into the apps settings and tap, pair new watch. Every. Single. Time. Now lets say yo get it paired and load up some iiideas (mini apps housed in your watch), they don't actually seem to communicate any information. I downloaded a dice roll app that is supposed to randomly generate the total for up to 6 die. I set it to a single 6 sided die for testing purposes. the instructions are as follows. Press the bottom button to select the iiidea. press the top button to get the total. Doing this causes the second hand to point at the 12 o'clock position. Then it does nothing. Pressing additional buttons does nothing. Eventually it just resets. This happens for every iiidea I load. Everything about this watch other than its looks are nothing but a huge disappointment.
