Reviews
Looks and feels absolutely amazing
I purchased this watch after looking at several in the same series while on my vacation in Tokyo. It's rather a simple one that feels solid and expensive on the wrist. I love that it is solar and also Satellite. I do wish that the watch would automatically adjust time zone when traveling. Instead you have to adjust it manually but it can be done quickly and simply. Not enough inconvenience to drop a star. There is nothing else that bothers me about the watch.
One of my current favorite watches
I have a number of watches I wear on rotation, including a Citizen Promaster Ti/DLC Limited Edition I bought a few years back. I really like titanium watches but they scratch easily. Citizen has found a way to DLC (diamond-like carbon) coat these watches to reduce scratching of the case and band. It really works. Only downside of my Promaster is that it is not radio or satellite time correcting. This new "Air Wave" version has all the advantages of the Ti/case DLC coating, and is satellite time correcting and Eco-Drive as well. This watch does not have a chrono (strange for a top of the line quartz watch), but the simplicity of the dial without a chrono is appreciated. The three dimensionality of the dial is amazing, as many of the sub-dials appear to float in space above the dial. The look is enhanced by a dome shaped sapphire crystal (read expensive!). There is no digital LCD display or back lighting, so it is really traditionally analog in appearance. The watch has a large case size, at about 50 mm. The light weight Titanium case makes it a pleasure to wear. I have found satellite updating to be more reliable than the more common radio updating. If you are under a clear sky (no trees, buildings, etc), the watch will update in under a minute. I have some radio updating watches that often take days to update. The only nit I have is that in some settings (not used often), you have to wait quite a while for the hands to spin around the dial a number of revolutions.
Great Watch!
The Citizen Satellite Wave is a well crafted time piece that would suit any watch enthusiast's collection! I love the way it fits on my wrist and keeps time.
