Through a partnership with 1% for the Planet, Citizen has pledged to donate 1% of its website sales in the U.S. to support a host of nonprofit organizations focused on the environment. Created in 2002, 1% for the Planet represents an alliance of businesses and individuals who are committed to enacting change to protect and restore the Earth. By connecting its 3,000-plus members with high-impact nonprofit partners, 1% for the Planet has helped raise more than $265 million to support approved environmental nonprofits around the globe.

They focus on projects that help students study at night, equip midwives with the tools they need to save lives, offer help and hope to those affected by natural disasters, and provide light and power to our neighbors experiencing homelessness, enabling them to access vital services and information. Light by light, they are changing the world

Citizen has joined forces with American Forests, the oldest, national nonprofit conservation organization in the United States. Founded in 1875, American Forests is a pathfinder for creating healthy forests from coast to coast, leading the way for creating healthy and resilient forests, from cities to wilderness, that deliver essential benefits for climate, people, water, and wildlife.

Environmental Vision 2050


Citizen has implemented global programs to demonstrate its ongoing pledge to support greater environmental responsibility. The Citizen Group Environmental Vision 2050 is a blueprint for realizing a sustainable future: By the year 2050, Citizen plans to achieve CO2 zero-emissions substantively from plants and offices, as well as to keep CO2 emission throughout the value chain to levels that make it possible to constrain global warming.


Sustainable Management Plan


In 2021, Citizen launched its new Sustainable Management Plan. Citizen’s goal is to increase corporate value through expanding business operations while also considering environmental and social issues. In order to become a company close to and loved by citizens the world over, Citizen will continue to create products and services that cater to changes in society and to exercise due care and diligence in its procurement and production processes.


Responsible Jewellery Council


Citizen is a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, the world’s leading standard-setting organization for the global jewelry and watch industry that assists brands on their pathway to sustainable growth. R.J.C. members commit to and are independently audited against the R.J.C. Code of Practices, an international standard on responsible business practices for diamonds, colored gemstones, silver, gold, and platinum group metals. The Code of Practices addresses human rights, labor rights, environmental impact, mining practices, product disclosure, and many more important topics in the jewelry supply chain.
